[Daniel Kroepfl](https://www.stateminded.com/en/blog/author/daniel-kroepfl) Dec 12, 2025 --- **Thousands of New AI Tools Pollute Drinking Water and Drive Energy Costs Sky-High** **Why Do I Need to Know This?** Every time you ask Chat or Claude for an opinion, a deluge of chaos is created - controlled chaos. *Because:* - AI requires enormous amounts of energy - Data centers must be cooled - Water supplies are dwindling **Not Convinced Yet?** For example, Wyoming is planning a giant data center that will consume more energy than all the state's residents combined. Nuclear reactors are being reactivated, or gas/diesel generators must supply energy. At the same time, communities in places like Texas or Tennessee are struggling with data centers. Unit volumes for air conditioning systems, generators, and more are growing immeasurably with data centers. At one of my clients, for example, 26,000 automation components per year are forecasted in AI, while traditional German mechanical engineering typically runs around 100 units... the scale is unimaginable.
